LOCATION SOUND - SOUND RECORDING ON SET
Sound recording on location is a step that should never be neglected. The use of a sound technician on set will ensure the best possible environment to capture a quality audio signal. His presence on set allows him to control the volumes and to come up with solutions when certain problems may arise, therefore minimizing any problems in the post-production stage. Once we start working with a someone specialized in audio, it’s impossible to work without one! Matthieu Nantel is a sound recordist recognized by the AQTIS 514 IATSE.
POST SYNCHRONIZATION DUBBING (ADR)
Post-synchronization means recording the sound elements of an audio-visual production (such as dialogues) in a studio. It’s often necessary to redo voices, certain effects or sounds normally captured during the shooting. It is obvious that the studio recording conditions will favor optimal sound, which is why some directors prefer to use this technique altogether. Of course, dubbing in another language also requires the use of a studio, which means that the choice of experienced actors will be a great asset to your production! A skilled actor will be able to find the right tone, the right rhythm and will be able to blend in with the original production, to create a seamless translation.
VOICE-OVER RECORDING NARRATION
The narration, commonly called “voiceover” is a narration external to what we see on screen, which is regularly used in advertising, documentary or any other production that requires a text to be read without any actors appearing on screen. The selection of the right narrator will set the appropriate tone and mood to best suit the needs of your project. A warm and calm voice to give comfort, a young and dynamic voice to convince with energy, a childlike voice for an academic project! Most actors will have a variety of voices to choose from, but each person has its own particular color.
